We connect unaccompanied and separated children, families fleeing violence, and other indigent Anne Arundel County residents to immigration legal counsel and related support services. Access to immigration legal services ensures the right to due process and provides hope, stability, and long term solutions to the threats of unjust deportation and family separation.

WHO WE ARE

Founded in April 2017, AIJN is a volunteer supported organization dedicated to connecting asylum seekers and other vulnerable immigrants to quality legal counsel and direct case management support. Our partners include law schools, legal firms and legal defense groups, faith organizations, and the business community.

OUR WORK

Case Management

Our case management team supports clients as they pursue pathways to legal status. Immigration cases can take many years and we provide ongoing case management throughout the process. For those in need of help, our bilingual case manager Jenny O’Neill can be reached at 410-357-1050.

Accompaniment Program

Volunteers in our accompaniment program provide transportation, companionship, and assistance to our immigrant neighbors as they pursue pathways to legal status. The lack of access to transportation can be a major barrier to legal representation. Volunteers help address this and help ensure safe and reliable transportation for federal immigration hearings, Immigration and Customs Enforcement check-ins, and legal consultations and appointments.

Legal Fund

Our legal fund provides financial assistance to families and individuals who need attorney representation to pursue legal status. We believe in the right to due process.

OTHER WAYS WE HELP

Connect

We have partnerships with the Partnership for Children, Youth and Families in Anne Arundel County, Kids In Need of Defense (KIND), Tahirih Justice Center, as well as other area agencies and organizations. Through these relationships, we help immigrants access legal representation and also connect individuals and families to important wraparound services.
